ANOTHER CLOSED DOOR DEBATE DONE

Sean Casten & Peter Roskam Meet Again Outside the District,
Roskam Skips Another Public Forum the Same Night

(Downers Grove) September 10, 2018 – Following another out-of-district debate with the Daily Herald, Sixth Congressional Candidate Sean Casten released the following statement challenging Peter Roskam – again – to debate in the district:

“With less than 60 days until the election, Peter Roskam continues to refuse to debate or hold a town hall meeting in his own district” said Casten. “Today, Peter Roskam reiterated his glee in increasing taxes on residents of the Sixth District. He has doubled-down on his ‘double tax’ by committing to the cap on state and local tax deductions, hurting homeowners all across his district.”

Peter Roskam and Sean Casten have debated four times outside of the Sixth Congressional District, and only once in front of a live audience. The Daily Herald offered to hold the meeting in public, but Peter Roskam refused. They have been invited to five joint forums in district, and Sean Casten has accepted all invites:

  • Coalition for a Better Illinois 6th on August 6th

  • League of Women Voters of McHenry County on September 10th

  • League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn on September 16th

  • League of Women Voters of Elgin on October 2nd

  • League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area on October 6th

“I’m sure voters would love to ask him about how he justifies his tax scam, and I would challenge Peter Roskam, again, to meet me in-district to face our voters in-person.”

This evening, Sean will attend the League of Women Voters of McHenry County public forum – without Peter Roskam.
