CASTEN: ROSKAM SHOULD RESCIND HIS ENDORSEMENT OF KAVANAUGH

Peter Roskam Should Rescind His Support Following Allegations of Sexual Assault

(Downers Grove, IL) September 16, 2018 – Following Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser of sexual assault coming forth publicly, 6th District Congressional Candidate Sean Casten called on Representative Peter Roskam to rescind his hasty approval of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to fill the lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“Peter Roskam was hasty and wrong to bless Judge Brett Kavanaugh to fill a lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court in July, and following this new bombshell he needs to fully rescind his blanket endorsement of Kavanaugh,” said Casten. “Documents have been withheld, Kavanaugh has repeatedly provided misleading and inaccurate statements, and now a witness has come forth with serious charges of sexual assault. All of these incidents alone should be sufficient for anyone to understand that, at a minimum, a vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination should be postponed.”

“Peter Roskam has an opportunity to show he really does want to listen before he acts, or he can continue siding with whatever President Trump wants – just like the 94 percent of the time he’s voted with him. Our district needs an independent ‘check’ on the President, not a rubber-stamp.”
