Big PhRMA Attempts to Rescue Pekau

DOWNERS GROVE, IL – Earlier this week, Keith Pekau announced plans to campaign with election-denying House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who is best known for leading House Republicans with a plan to devastate seniors with cuts to Social Security & Medicare.

Now—in response to Congressman Sean Casten’s successful efforts to cap prescription drug costs for Seniors—Big PhRMA is fighting back and funneling millions of dollars of dark money to attack Rep. Casten through Kevin McCarthy’s personal Super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund.

Big PhRMA has funneled tens of millions of dollars to the Congressional Leadership Fund through CLF’s sister organization, American Action Network.

“Fortunately for Kevin McCarthy and Big PhRMA, their handpicked candidate Keith Pekau—who was a delegate for Donald Trump in 2020—owns more than $80,000 worth of stock in pharmaceutical companies and will never vote to hurt their bottom line.” said Casten for Congress campaign spokesman Trevor Nyland. “Congressman Sean Casten, on the other hand, successfully fought to lower the cost of prescription drugs for seniors. He has also been an outspoken advocate for protecting Social Security and Medicare benefits, and for expanding coverage for important health needs, like hearing aids. He’s shown time and again that he’s working on behalf of his constituents. It’s no wonder Big Pharma is supporting his opponent.”
