NEW CASTEN AD: ROSKAM’S EXTREME POSITIONS ON WOMEN’S HEALTH

(Downers Grove, IL) October 30, 2018 – Today, Sean Casten released a new ad highlighting Peter Roskam’s extreme views on women’s health care and his opposition to a woman’s right to choose even in cases of rape and incest. The Casten Campaign released the following statement:

“Peter Roskam has spent his entire campaign trying to hide his extreme positions and slinging mud at Sean Casten because he can’t run on his own record. A record that includes voting against the Violence Against Women Act, health care legislation that would remove vital preventive care measures, and once again allowing insurance companies to charge women higher premiums for health care coverage.”

“A woman’s right to choose is a sacred, private decision between herself and her doctor. This ad reminds the voters of Illinois’ Sixth District just how dangerously backwards and out-of-step Peter Roskam and Donald Trump are with the needs to Illinois women.”

Casten has held his own listening session to hear from constituents and experts on Roe v. Wade and women’s health issues. Last week, in the WTTW debate, Peter Roskam said pharmacists should be allowed to deny prescriptions based on religious grounds. Right now, the National Right to Life committee is on the air in support of Peter Roskam.

The script of the ad follows:

Casten: “I’ll stand up to Donald Trump, fighting alongside women to make sure that their health care decisions are their own.

Narrator: “Donald Trump has another agenda for Illinois women. Trump has taken aim at Planned Parenthood, cutting funding, and targeting women’s health clinics. And Peter Roskam opposes a woman’s right to choose, even in cases of rape or incest.”

Narrator: “Roskam and Trump together, 94% of the time, dangerously wrong for Illinois women.”
