SEAN CASTEN COMMITS TO PROTECTING WOMEN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE

Casten Meets with Panel of Women’s Health, Legal, and Advocacy Experts, Commits to Defending Women’s Right to Choose & Roe V. Wade

(Downers Grove, IL) July 10, 2018 – 6th District Congressional Candidate Sean Casten today met with local health care professionals, leading legal experts, and women’s health advocates where they discussed U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and Sean committed to defending a woman’s right to choose.

“I am deeply concerned about U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh particularly when it comes to women’s health, contraception and reproductive rights. As a Member of Congress, I would be vigilant in defending a woman’s right to make personal, private medical decisions, including abortion, without the interference of politicians like Peter Roskam and Donald Trump.” said Casten.

“Reproductive health care is basic health care for women – one in four women in America will have an abortion by age 45. As a doctor,  I believe it is wrong to deny women the health care they depend on. We can’t go back to a time when nearly 1.2 million women each year resorted to illegal, unsafe, and often deadly abortions. I trust Sean Casten to stand up for women when he’s in Congress,” said Dr. Ramsey Ellis, Chicago Member of NARAL Pro-Choice America.

“Over 50 years ago, The National Organization for Women was the first organization to call for an end to criminalizing abortion. We remain steadfast in our mission to stand up fo a woman’s right to make her own childbearing decisions. We need to elect leaders like Sean Casten who will put women’s health and rights first.” said Laura Green Welch, Vice President for Chapter Development for Illinois National Organization for Women (NOW).
