CASTEN RELEASES AD ON ROSKAM’S ROLE AS AUTHOR OF GOP TAX SCAM

New Ad Highlights Roskam’s Role in Raising Taxes on Illinois Families and Adding Trillions to the Deficit

(Downers Grove, IL) October 15, 2018 – This morning, Sean Casten’s campaign for Congress released a new ad highlighting Peter Roskam’s role as a key author of President Trump’s tax bill that gives trillions in tax breaks to large corporations and the wealthy while adding nearly two trillion to the deficit. The ad also highlights how Roskam’s tax scam jeopardizes Illinoisans’ earned benefits such as Social Security and Medicare. Today, the campaign released the following statement:

“From voting with Trump 94% of the time to personally authoring the tax bill that raises taxes for Illinois families, Peter Roskam has shown time and again that he is a rubber stamp for Donald Trump,” said Greg Bales, Campaign Manager for Sean Casten. “Voters of the Sixth District know Peter Roskam and Donald Trump’s priorities: tax breaks for special interests at the expense of the middle class, Social Security, and Medicare.”

This ad follows a previous Casten for Congress ad highlighting how Peter Roskam repeatedly voted to gut protections for people with pre-existing medical conditions over 60 times, and an ad highlighting how Peter Roskam voted with Donald Trump 94% of the time to weaken protections for people with pre-existing conditions, raise premiums, allow insurance companies to charge older Americans five times more than younger people, and kick more than thirty thousand people in this district off of their health insurance.

Cook Political Report recently became the second key political prognosticator to list this race as Lean Dem, joining Inside Elections which lists the race as “Tilt” Dem. Election Projection, Politico, and Larry Sabato all list Casten vs. Roskam as a toss-up. A recent poll shows Casten with a five point lead, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
