CASTEN ENDORSED BY ALLIANCE FOR RETIRED AMERICANS

(Downers Grove, IL) October 10, 2018 – Today, the Alliance for Retired Americans announced their endorsement of Sean Casten, Sixth District candidate for Congress.

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans” said Casten. “Support for Social Security and Medicare is one of those things that shouldn’t be partisan. Unfortunately, Peter Roskam puts his corporate donors first, and voted for a massive tax scam that endangers the future of Social Security and Medicare. Peter Roskam even had the gaul to call those on Medicare “entitled individuals.”

In making their endorsement, Alliance members cited Casten’s commitment to ensuring that all Americans have access to affordable, quality health care. Members also cited Mr. Casten’s commitment to protecting people with pre-existing medical conditions, stronger retirement and pension security, and quality long term care.

“Sean Casten’s positions on retiree issues demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for older Americans,” said Barbara Franklin, President of the Illinois Alliance for Retired Americans. “His dedication to preserving and protecting Social Security and Medicare from benefit cuts will help ensure these programs will be around for current and future generations.”

Casten’s opponent, Rep. Peter Roskam, has earned a 6% Lifetime Pro-Retiree score in the Alliance’s Congressional Voting Record for his votes against protecting earned Social Security and Medicare benefits and other retiree issues. Nationally, the Alliance has 4.4 million members and more than 240,000 retirees in Illinois.
