ROSKAM ONCE AGAIN DUCKS VOTERS
Peter Roskam Snubs Another In-District Voter Forum
(Downers Grove, IL ) October 5, 2018 – This week the Casten for Congress campaign was informed by the League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area that Peter Roskam has declined to participate in yet another Candidate Forum, this one on Saturday, October 6th. This is not the first time Peter Roskam has refused to participate in a debate inside the 6th District. To date, zero meetings between Sean Casten and Peter Roskam have occurred inside the Sixth District. Today, Casten reiterated his challenge:
“While I continue to meet voters in large, public forums open to the public, Peter Roskam once again is ducking his constituents,” said Casten. “Debates, forums, and town halls are healthy and important for our democracy, and voters demand them because they want to attend and participate. But just like his refusal to hold a town hall meeting for more than ten years, Peter Roskam is refusing to hold a debate in the very district he is supposed to represent.”
“I have repeatedly challenged Peter Roskam to more debates here at home. After working so hard to avoid his voters, it’s clear that Roskam should take the Chicago Tribune’s advice and find another ‘line of work.’”
Peter Roskam and Sean Casten have debated four times outside of the Sixth Congressional District, and only once in front of a live audience. They have been invited to six joint forums in district. Sean has accepted all, Peter has declined every one:
