FEMINIST MAJORITY PAC ENDORSES CASTEN FOR CONGRESS

Cites Roskam Record of Hostility to Women

(Downers Grove, IL) August 10, 2018 – A national PAC focused on women’s rights and equality today endorsed Sean Casten for Congress in the Sixth District of Illinois. Casten and Eleanor Smeal, President of Feminist Majority PAC, released the following statements:

“There may be no clearer choice in the 2018 midterm election than the one between Sean Casten and Congressman Peter Roskam,” said Eleanor Smeal, President of the Feminist Majority PAC.”Sean Casten will fight in Congress on behalf of women’s health and reproductive rights versus Peter Roskam who has a 25-year record of hostility toward women’s rights, including his opposition to abortion even for victims of rape.”

‘I am honored to be supported by an organization that supports women’s health care and reproductive rights, violence against women prevention, and economic equity, and I pledge to uphold those shared values in Congress,” said Casten.

The Feminist Majority PAC was founded in 2002 and assists progressive candidates who support feminist issues, including women’s healthcare and reproductive rights, violence against women prevention, economic equity and civil rights.  It researches all candidate positions before making endorsements.

Roskam has a long record of working to undermine women’s health, safety, and equality.  He voted against the Violence against Women Act, and repeatedly against an equal-pay law for women.  And he’s voted 17 times to restrict or defund Planned Parenthood.
