Willowbrook is an easy bike ride away from Argonne National Laboratory. Many Argonne employees live in Willowbrook and bike to work.
What to See
Willowbrook is home to three shopping centers and restaurants along Route 83. The village is also home to the historic Del Rey’s Chicken Basket, which has been serving fried chicken to hungry travelers along the classic Route 66 since 1938.
In commemoration of Route 66, residents of Willowbrook and Burr Ridge celebrate the Crusin’ 66 Festival and Car Show in August. The festival includes a variety of family activities, food, and entertainment, along with awards for antique and specialty cars.
Portions of Willowbrook are in Illinois’ 11th congressional district, while other areas of the village are in the 6th district.
In the 11th district, cardiologist Nick Stella (R) is running against the incumbent, physicist Bill Foster (D), who has held the 11th congressional seat since 2013.
