Warrenville is a city in DuPage County with a population just over 13,000. It is about an hour’s drive outside of Chicago, just west of Wheaton.  Warrenville was founded in 1967, and is named after its founder Julius Warren, who moved to the area in the early 19th century.

 

Living in Warrenville

Residents of Warrenville have access to quality schools, excellent nature preserves, and a vibrant entertainment and restaurant scene centered around the Cantera movie theatre and surrounding commercial district. The largest employer is Navistar, an automotive company with over 1,000 employees in Warrenville.

Warrenville is part of the Community Unit School District 200, which shares many schools with nearby Wheaton. One notable graduate of the area’s schools was Edwin Hubble, the namesake of the Hubble Telescope, who graduated from what is now Wheaton Warrenville South High School in 1906.

What to See

Warrenville has a myriad of amenities for a city of its size, and even has a thorough visitor’s guide listing the many parks, hotels, restaurants, places of worship, festivals, and more in the area. Warrenville has also preserved a significant number of historical sites in the village.

Warrenville is surrounded by beautiful forest preserves, including the Warrenville Grove, Blackwell, and St. James Farm Forest Preserves to the north, the Herrick Lake and Danada Forest Preserves to the east, and the McDowell Grove Nature Preserve to the south.  

 

Congressional Representation

Portions of Warrenville are in Illinois’ 14th congressional district, while other areas of the city are in the 6th district.

In the 14th district, the Democratic candidate, Lauren Underwood, is running against the incumbent  Republican, Randy Hultgren. Ms. Underwood is a first-time candidate and is a registered nurse, with policy expertise in health care. Affordable health care for residents of the district is one of the main priorities of her campaign.

In the 6th district, Sean Casten is running against the incumbent Peter Roskam, who has held the 6th district congressional seat since 2006.
