St. Charles is a city in Kane and DuPage counties with a population of about 33,000. It is located along the Fox River about 40 miles from downtown Chicago, south of Elgin and north of Geneva. Having been incorporated in 1839, St. Charles is one of the oldest municipalities in the Chicago area, and is nearly as old as Chicago itself.

Portions of St. Charles are in Illinois’ 14th congressional district, while other areas of the city are in the 6th district.
