Palatine is a residential suburb located about 45 minutes outside Chicago, just northwest of O’Hare airport and on the Metra Union Pacific line. Palatine is one of the oldest villages outside Chicago, having been founded in 1866. Residents of Palatine have both easy access to the city of Chicago while still enjoying the charm of suburban living.

 

Living in Palatine

Palatine is known for its excellent public schools. The village is served by Community Consolidated School District 15, which won the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award in 2003 and continues to provide excellent schooling to a wide diversity of students in Palatine and the surrounding areas.

Palatine High School and William Fremd High School are also located in the village, providing a high-quality education to more than 5,000 high school students. Harper Community College is located on the far southern end of the village and has been serving residents of Palatine and the nearby suburbs since 1967.

What to See

Downtown Palatine is a great place for families, with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Downtown is also the site of Palatine’s popular free street festival every August.

Palatine contains a number of golf courses and parks, such as the Palatine Hills Golf Course and the Twin Lakes golf course, and borders the 1800-acre Deer Grove Forest Preserve.

 

Congressional Representation

Palatine has portions located in Illinois’ 6th District as well as in Illinois’ 8th congressional district.

Residents in the 8th district are currently represented by Raja Krishnamoorthi (D), who was elected in 2016 to occupy the seat formerly held by Tammy Duckworth. and will be running against Republican candidate Jitendra Diganvker in November.

In the 6th district, Sean Casten is running against the incumbent Peter Roskam, who has held the 6th district congressional seat since 2006.
