Oakbrook Terrace has the distinction of being the smallest town in DuPage county by both area and population. The city has just over 2,000 residents and is located about 45 minutes west of Chicago, just north of Downers Grove and Hinsdale.
Living in Oakbrook Terrace
Oakbrook Terrace has a vibrant business community due to its proximity to both Chicago airports, the high number of quality hotels in the village, and local attractions such as the Drury Lane theatre and banquet hall. Oakbrook Terrace also contains the headquarters of the company Redbox, which pioneered selling movies from vending machines. Oakbrook Terrace also contains many well maintained park spaces, luxury apartments and condominiums, and quiet streets and cafes that make it one of Illinois hidden gems in the western suburbs. What to See One of the most prominent landmarks in Oakbrook Terrace is the 31-story Oakbrook Terrace Tower. The tower is the tallest building in Illinois outside of Chicago, and the city touts it as “the tallest office building west of downtown Chicago to the Rocky Mountains.” |
Congressional Representation
Portions of Oakbrook Terrace are in Illinois’ 5th congressional district, while other areas of the village are in the 6th district. Oakbrook Terrace residents in the 5th district have been represented by Mike Quigley since 2009. In the 6th district, Sean Casten is running against the incumbent Peter Roskam, who has held the 6th district congressional seat since 2006. Sean is committed to serving Oakbrook Terrace and the rest of the 6th district by focusing on facts and working to strengthen the community’s schools and economy. |
