Naperville is the largest municipality in the 6th district, with a population of over 140,000 people. The city is located 28 miles west of Chicago, and is split between DuPage and Will county. Established in 1831, Naperville has grown into one of the most populous and popular Chicago suburbs.

 

Living in Naperville

Naperville is served by two of the most highly ranked school districts in Illinois, Districts 203 and 204. Both districts 203 and 204 are highly revered for both high school graduation and college placement rates of over 98%. Five high schools are located in Naperville, including Naperville North, Naperville Central, Neuqua Valley, Waubonsie Valley, and Metea Valley. Naperville is also the home for North Central College, located near downtown.

Naperville is home to a number of corporate headquarters, including BMO Harris Bank, Nicor Gas, and Edward Hospital and Health Services. Nokia and BP also maintain large offices in Naperville.

What to See

Naperville has many popular tourist attractions that bring in thousands of visitors annually. These attractions include The Naper Settlement, Centennial Beach, the downtown Naperville Riverwalk, Nichols Public Library, and Springbrook Valley Forest Preserve, as well as shopping districts and dozens of different restaurants.

Naperville hosts two popular summer festivals, Ribfest and the Last Fling. Both festivals attract thousands of visitors annually with promises of live music, food from local vendors, and carnival rides for kids.

At Christmastime, Naper Settlement hosts an annual Christkindlmarket where visitors can come browse various stands where vendors sell food and homemade trinkets.

 

Congressional Representation

Portions of Naperville are in Illinois’ 11th congressional district, while other areas of the city are in the 6th district.

In the 11th district, cardiologist Nick Stella is running against the incumbent Bill Foster who has held the 11th district seat since 2007.

In the 6th district, Sean Casten is running against the incumbent Peter Roskam, who has held the 6th district congressional seat since 2006.
