The Village of Glen Ellyn is located in DuPage county in Chicago’s western suburbs. The village is located just east of Wheaton and is roughly an hour’s drive from downtown Chicago.  Glen Ellyn has a population of about 27,000 and is known for its extensive park system and the extensive recreational activities available within the village.

 

Living in Glen Ellyn

Glen Ellyn has a long history of supporting public parks and recreation spaces. Glen Ellyn’s Park District was founded in 1919 and contains 30 parks within the village that host numerous activities including sports, public playgrounds, swimming pools, tennis courts, and more.

Glen Ellyn has highly-regarded schools, including many public and private elementary schools. Glen Ellyn also contains the West and South campuses of Glenbard High School, one of the largest high school districts in Illinois, as well as the College of DuPage.

What to See

In addition to the many recreational and outdoor activities to be found in the village, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society was formed in 1969 to restore and preserve what is now the Stacy Tavern Museum. This fun, award-winning museum boasts “the only fully restored stagecoach inn in Illinois resting on its original foundation.”

Congressional Representation

Glen Ellyn is predominantly located in Illinois’ 6th District with portions located in Illinois’ 8th congressional district.

Residents in the 8th district are currently represented by Raja Krishnamoorthi (D), who was elected in 2016 to occupy the seat formerly held by Tammy Duckworth. and will be running against Republican candidate Jitendra Diganvker in November.

In the 6th district, Sean Casten is running against the incumbent Peter Roskam, who has held the 6th district congressional seat since 2006.

Sean is committed to serving Glen Ellyn and the rest of the 6th district by focusing on facts and working to strengthen the community’s schools and economy.
