East Dundee is a village in Kane county, with a small section in Cook County. WIth a population of slightly more than 3,000, East Dundee is located across the Fox River from West Dundee.

 

Living in East Dundee

East Dundee is served by Community Unit School District 300, the 6th largest school district in Illinois based on student population. The district includes fifteen elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools, one K-8 school, one early childhood center, and an alternative school.

The Dundee Township Park District operates several popular facilities in East Dundee, including the Rakow Recreation Center and Dolphin Cove water park. The Fox River Bike Trail is another popular destination for residents and visitors alike.

What to See

Around December 1st, residents and guests from around the area celebrate “Dickens in Dundee,” when shoppers are regaled by carolers as they search for Tiny Tim’s crutch and enjoy crafts and treats, followed by a parade.

In the summer there are Wine Down Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays which pair live musical performances and street festivals with wine and food offerings. These and many other community events are held in East Dundee’s revitalized downtown area, which features a variety of shops, restaurants, and bars.

 

Congressional Representation

East Dundee is contained entirely within  Illinois’ 6th congressional district.

In the 6th district, Sean Casten is running against the incumbent Peter Roskam, who has held the 6th district congressional seat since 2006.
