Casten Endorsed by 5 Union Locals in Re-Election Campaign

Downers Grove, IL — Today, U.S. Congressman Sean Casten (D-IL) announced he has been endorsed by 5 local unions representing thousands of Illinois workers. The unions endorsing Rep. Casten include Heat and Frost Insulators Local 17, Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Administrative District Council 1, SMART Local 265, Ironworkers Local 393, and Teamsters Local 673.

“Strong unions are essential to a strong and equitable economy,” said Rep. Sean Casten. “In Congress, I’ve always worked to protect workers’ rights and am proud of my 100% voting score from the AFL-CIO. I’m honored to have the endorsements of these unions that represent so many working people across the 6th District and our state.”

With Rep. Casten’s previous endorsements from IUPAT Local 30 and IBEW Local 701, and the recommendation for re-election by the DuPage County Build and Construction Trades Council, working people and labor unions across Illinois and the 6th District are strongly backing Rep. Sean Casten and his pro-union record.

“Representative Sean Casten knows that strong unions make for a strong economy and safe working conditions,” said Mike Volpentesta, President of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Administrative District Council 1. “ADC 1 of IL, Bricklayers Union are proud to endorse Representative Sean Casten for Congress.”

“Throughout his career as a CEO and now as a Member of Congress, Rep. Sean Casten has shown an unending dedication to creating quality, good-paying jobs,” said Bob Baier, Financial Secretary for SMART Local 265. “He never hesitates to stand with workers and fight for their right to organize. We need him in Congress.”

“Workers in the 6th District are lucky to have a Member of Congress that is always ready and willing to stand up and protect workers’ rights,” said Dirk Enger, Business Manager for Iron Workers Local 393. “With his track record of fighting to ensure safe and fair workplaces and bringing real careers with real benefits to the 6th District, we’re excited to endorse him for re-election.”

All 5 unions committed to working hard to ensure their union and family members in the Sixth District learn of their endorsements of Rep. Casten and turn out to vote in next June’s primary.
