CASTEN STATEMENT ON FLORIDA SHOOTING

(Downers Grove, IL) August 27, 2018 – Following another mass shooting in Florida yesterday, Sixth District Congressional candidate Sean Casten released the following statement:

“Yesterday, another mass shooting occurred in Florida. I offer my thoughts to those affected and their families, and as always am thankful for the work of first responders,” said Casten. “Like so many other parents, I am getting ready to send my kids back to school, and this is another stark reminder that Congress has failed to take action to address senseless gun crimes.

“But thoughts are not enough. When I met with Parkland students months ago they had one request should I be elected to Congress: ‘Do something.’ So far, Congress has failed in that simple task. I’m tired of this inaction.  I’m tired of public statements like this. Sadly, these tragedies will continue to affect all communities in America until our elected leaders have the courage to act. Please act soon.”
