PETER ROSKAM SLIPPING, SEAN CASTEN CATCHING FIRE

Casten v. Roskam Campaign Updated (Again) from Leans Republican to Toss Up

(Downers Grove)  August 19, 2018 – This weekend the non-partisan political prognosticators at Inside Elections updated the Sean Casten versus Rep. Peter Roskam race in Illinois’ Sixth District from Leans Republican to Toss-up. The Casten campaign released the following statement:

“Peter Roskam and Washington special interest groups are spending millions lying about Sean Casten’s successful business record, but voters – and the experts – aren’t buying it. Cutting your constituent’s health care, and being a rubber-stamp for Donald Trump 94 percent of the time is exactly why Peter Roskam is more vulnerable than ever,” said Greg Bales, Campaign Manager for Sean Casten. “Sean Casten is running a campaign focused on protecting health care for people with pre-existing conditions, protecting women’s rights and health, and pushing for common-sense gun laws. This updated ranking proves we have the momentum to give the Sixth District an independent check in Congress against Donald Trump.”

Inside Elections highlighted Peter Roskam’s incumbency advantage, but said he might “have an electoral problem that money can’t fix” and moved the race from Tilt R to Toss-up. In July the non-partisan political analysis newsletter Sabato’s Crystal Ball updated the race from Leans Republican to Toss-up.
