CASTEN: ROSKAM MUST PROTECT MUELLER

Sean Casten Again Calls on Peter Roskam to Commit to Protecting the Mueller Investigation

(Downers Grove) August 21, 2018 – Sixth Congressional Candidate Sean Casten released the following statement regarding today’s announcement of Michael Cohen’s guilty plea and Paul Manafort’s guilty verdict:

“Today, the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election moved forward as Donald Trump’s personal attorney entered a plea agreement and his former-campaign chair was found guilty,” said Casten. “With a renewed threat of Donald Trump terminating the Mueller investigation or “taking it over,” Peter Roskam should commit to allowing it to reach its conclusion.”

“As Congressman, Peter Roskam has voted 94 percent of the time with Donald Trump. In this matter, he must put patriotism ahead of partisanship and blind obedience to the President.”

Sean Casten has previously called on Peter Roskam to protect Robert Mueller and to sign on to a bipartisan bill introduced in the House to prevent the White House from removing Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Peter Roskam has not co-sponsored the bill, and additionally refused to sign the discharge petition to bring the bill to a vote.
