Senator Durbin Calls Out Peter Roskam’s Bad Record, Commits to Sean Casten

(Downers Grove, IL) August 9, 2018 – Following Rep. Peter Roskam’s negative and false attack ad against Sean Casten, the Casten Campaign released a response ad featuring Senator Durbin calling out Peter Roskam’s attacks on his constituents’ health care:

“Peter Roskam will not run on his own record of voting to strip health care away from 30,000 of his own constituents and gutting protections for people with pre-existing conditions, so he’s attacking Sean for being a successful businessman,” said Greg Bales, Campaign Manager for Sean Casten. “Senator Durbin is a champion of protecting people’s access to good, affordable health care, and his support of Sean Casten validates what this campaign is about: protecting and improving people’s health care, and not resorting to personal attacks.”

In Senator Dick Durbin’s June 2018 endorsement of Sean Casten he noted that “Casten will fight back to lower health care and prescription drug costs.” Since that endorsement, Peter Roskam voted against protecting coverage for people with pre-existing conditions and sat idly by as Donald Trump allowed insurers to reject coverage to those with pre-existing conditions.
