Sean Casten Supports American Unions

DOWNERS GROVE (June 27, 2018) – Sean Casten, the Democratic Candidate for U.S. Representative in Illinois’ Sixth Congressional District, speaks out against the recent Supreme Court’s Janus decision.

“This regrettable decision is yet another showing the current Supreme Court will consistently favor the interests of corporations over those of unions, individual workers, and families working to get ahead in Illinois. Unfortunately, Donald Trump is committed to appointing more judges who embrace the view that ‘corporations are people’ and actual people are at their mercy. Peter Roskam shares these views. He votes against minimum wage increases, and against equal pay for equal work. Further, he wrote a tax plan that slashes corporate tax rates without requiring the creation of US jobs at a time when corporate bank accounts are larger than ever.”

“The only way to stop the tide of anti-worker court decisions and government actions is to elect a Congress this November that will put the interests of working people and families first. I look forward to being a part of that change.”
